Art object, designed for Symposion Gorinchem 2005, the second edition of the
international art event that took place in 1974 in Gorinchem with participation
of many art disciplines.
Based on the central theme of Utopia in cooperation with local wood manufacturer
JéwéRET a 1000 kilogram weighting wooden object is made, consisting
of four thrones facing towards each other.
‘Throne’ is a vision on the ideal society and symbolises wisdom
and truth. The installation has
been officially assigned to the Municipality of
Gorinchem and is located in the central hall of the Camphusianum Gymnasium
in
Gorinchem, the Netherlands.
On
August 19th 2005 the Symposion was officially opened by Queen Beatrix of the
Netherlands.
Material:
wood, oiled. The sculpture is built from 288 wooden planks and connected by
32 wooden pins.
